An active member of the Howard County legal community for over 25 years, Michael W. Davis represents individuals and families in all phases of estate planning, wealth management, probate and trust administration, asset protection, business succession, charitable giving, medical decision-making, and guardianship or fiduciary litigation matters. A recognized leader in the complexities of estate planning and other issues of interest to the aging community, Mike served on the Howard County Commission on Aging for the past ten years, serving as Chair or Vice-Chair for most of that time. In addition, he has served on the Elder Law Council of the Maryland State Bar Association from 1993 to 2006, serving as Chair in 2000, and was a founding member of the Maryland/D.C. Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Active in community leadership positions, Mike is immediate Past-Chair of The Columbia Foundation, Howard County's community foundation, serves as a Trustee on the Howard Community College Educational Foundation, and is a graduate of Leadership Maryland (Class of 2000). In 2003, Governor Robert Ehrlich, in recognition of Mike's position within the legal community, appointed him Chair of the Howard County Judicial Nominating Commission, a position he held until 2007. A frequent and sought-after lecturer on estate planning issues, Mike has been a featured speaker before many organizations, including the Maryland Institute for the Continuing Legal Education for Lawyers. Mike has been awarded an "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a national peer review service, that indicates that he has reached the height of professional excellence and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1977 and from the National Law Center at George Washington University in 1981. Mike is admitted to the Maryland Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for Maryland, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
